Longtime quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not be on the roster for the first time since 2003, after he announced his retirement on January 27, 2022. It will also be the first time since 1999 that the Steelers’ longtime general manager, Kevin Colbert, will not be in that position. On January 28, 2022, Colbert stated that, after 22 years with the team, he will step down after the 2022 NFL Draft. On May 25, 2022, Andy Weidl and Omar Khan took over as general manager and assistant general manager, respectively.
