NBA Injuries
Fred VanVleet Uncertain To Suit Up On Monday
Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet (back) has been tagged as questionable for the team's game on Monday against the New York Knicks. The 28-year-old is dealing with lower back soreness which seems like it could make him a game time decision. VanVleet has had a handful of bumps and bruises that have landed him on the injury report, but then he's played through most of them. If he can't suit up, Gary Trent Jr. and Malachi Flynn would likely see some added minutes.
Herbert Jones Questionable Again On Monday Against Cleveland
New Orleans Pelicans forward Herbert Jones (back) still hasn't been fully cleared to play while suffering from a lower back contusion and is in danger of missing his third consecutive game. The 24-year-old has a clear path to plenty of playing time if he can get back to the court since Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson remain sidelined. If he can't suit up, Trey Murphy III and Naji Marshall are the safest streaming options on the team.
Bradley Beal Questionable To Return On Monday
Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal (hamstring) has been out for the team's last four games and is uncertain to return to the floor on Monday against the Golden State Warriors. The 29-year-old has been dealing with a left hamstring strain that was expected to keep him out for at least a week and now could keep him out a bit longer. Jordan Goodwin and Corey Kispert could be decent streaming options, but present a good amount of risk.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Probable To Return On Monday
Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee) has been listed as probable to make his return on Monday after a two-game absence due to knee soreness. The superstar forward may not have the season he's used to, but he's still been near the top of the MVP race and is an elite fantasy asset. Bobby Portis will likely shift back to the bench when he returns to the court and Antetokounmpo will soak up most of those power forward minutes.
Myles Turner Remains Questionable For Monday Versus Bucks
Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner (back) has been tagged as questionable again for the Monday night contest against the Milwaukee Bucks. Turner is still suffering from back spasms that have kept him out of the last three games. Since he's been sidelined, Isaiah Jackson has been the top streaming option with Jalen Smith seeing a lot of fluctuation in his minutes. Jackson will be the best bet for fantasy managers looking for frontcourt help until Turner comes back.
Gordon Hayward Receives Another Doubtful Tag
Charlotte Hornets forward Gordon Hayward (hamstring) has been listed as doubtful again for Monday's game against the Boston Celtics. He's missed the last six consecutive games with hamstring soreness and seems ready to miss his seventh. Out of a possible 44 games so far, the 32-year-old has only been able to play 21 of them. At this rate, fantasy managers might want to go a different direction instead of just finding a streaming option while he uses the IR spot. Jalen McDaniels and Cody Martin remain the better options while Hayward remains sidelined.
Derrick White Avoids Major Injury, Listed As Probable Monday
Boston Celtics guard Derrick White (neck) is listed as probable to play Monday against the Charlotte Hornets. White left their previous game with a neck strain after only playing four minutes. The injury, however, appears to not be serious as White will likely not miss any additional game time. If White suffers any setbacks, look for Malcolm Brogdon to pick up the slack. Brogdon scored 30 points when White was forced out of their last game.
Jaylen Brown Remains Out Monday
Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown (adductor) will not play Monday against the Charlotte Hornets. Brown continues to deal with some lingering soreness and will miss his third straight game. With Brown out, the rest of the starters will likely see the biggest impact with Jayson Tatum leading the way on offense. Malcolm Brogdon may see a few more opportunities as the first man off the bench.
Lauri Markkanen Questionable On Monday
Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen (hip) is listed as questionable to play Monday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Markkanen has already missed a game with hip soreness and is in danger of missing another. If Markkanen does sit out Monday, Jarred Vanderbilt and Talen Horton-Tucker should both see increased roles. Jordan Clarkson would also be asked to shoulder the load offensively. Clarkson posted 38 points last game without Markkanen.
Doug McDermott Will Not Play Against Kings
San Antonio Spurs forward Doug McDermott (back) will sit Sunday's game against the Sacramento Kings. McDermott was questionable with a back injury, but was downgraded to out before tip-off. Malaki Branham, Josh Richardson and Stanley Johnson should all see increased minutes off the bench. Starters Keldon Johnson and Jeremy Sochan should also see a small bump in their respective roles.
John Wall To Miss Next Two Weeks
Los Angeles Clippers guard John Wall (abdomen) is set to miss at least the next two weeks of action. The Clippers have decided to shut down the veteran guard for a couple of weeks while he recovers from an abdominal strain. His absence should mean that Terance Mann continues to get significant playing time in the rotation. Also, Reggie Jackson will likely be asked to contribute more with Wall unavailable to play. Mann is certainly worth rostering while Wall is out. Fantasy managers can take a wait-and-see approach with Jackson as he heavily struggled earlier in the season.
Marcus Morris Sr. Ruled Out On Sunday
Los Angeles Clippers forward Marcus Morris Sr. (knee) won't suit up for Sunday's game against the Houston Rockets. The 33-year-old will miss his first game since early December due to a left knee issue. This is bad timing with Paul George (hamstring) also missing Sunday's game. That means, Amir Coffey will move into the starting five and Nicolas Batum will join him. Both players should be considered low-end streaming options for Sunday's slate. Kawhi Leonard is healthy and starting, so he should handle of majority of the heavy lifting.
DeMar DeRozan To Sit Out On Sunday
Chicago Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan (quad) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Golden State Warriors. He'll miss his third straight contest while he deals with a strained right quad. The organization appears to be optimistic about DeRozan getting back on the court soon. In the meantime, Alex Caruso will draw another start and should be a solid streaming option for Sunday's slate. Zach LaVine (hand) has been cleared to play, so he'll carry the workload on offense.
Zach LaVine Available On Sunday
Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine (hand) is available for Sunday's game against the Golden State Warriors. There was some concern that LaVine would miss this game as he continues to deal with a right hand contusion. The 27-year-old was able to play through the issue on Friday, so he'll do the same here. DeMar DeRozan (quad) remains sidelined, which means LaVine will have increased scoring responsibility on Sunday. Fantasy managers should check their lineups to make sure LaVine is in there for Sunday's slate.
Tim Hardaway Jr. Sprains Left Ankle
Dallas Mavericks guard/forward Tim Hardaway Jr. (ankle) was forced to exit Saturday's matchup against Portland after spraining his left ankle. He got hurt in the fourth quarter and finished with 10 points, two rebounds and one assist in 32 minutes. Hardaway Jr. struggled all night, but he has been a very productive player since the start of last month and will be a big miss if he has to spend some time on the sideline. Jaden Hardy finished the game in his place on Saturday and Reggie Bullock, who was a superb 8-for-10 from deep during a 24-point night, could get a bigger role offensively.
Zach LaVine Probable Against Golden State
Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine (hand) is expected to play against the Warriors. The 27-year-old carried the same designation heading into Friday's meeting with OKC, so barring a setback, he should be out there on Sunday. LaVine has been on a roll, scoring 36 or more points in three of his last five games. He may continue to see an uptick on the scoring end if DeMar DeRozan (quadriceps) can't suit up.
DeMar DeRozan Questionable On Sunday
Chicago Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan (quadriceps) is questionable for Sunday's meeting with Golden State. The 33-year-old has missed his last two games with a right quad strain. However, he appears to be moving in the right direction. If DeRozan can't suit up, Patrick Williams, who had 19 points, five rebounds, one steal, and one block on Friday against OKC, is the favorite to remain in the starting lineup.
Marcus Morris Sr. Doubtful On Sunday
Los Angeles Clippers forward Marcus Morris Sr. (knee) isn't expected to play against the Rockets. The 33-year-old is dealing with a left knee contusion, so he'll likely join Paul George (hamstring) and Luke Kennard (calf) on the sidelines. John Wall (abdomen) isn't anticipated to play either, meaning Terance Mann, Norman Powell, Nicolas Batum, and Robert Covington could all see an uptick in fantasy production.
John Wall Not Expected To Suit Up On Sunday
Los Angeles Clippers guard John Wall (abdomen) is not expected to play against the Houston Rockets. The veteran logged 29 minutes on Friday versus the Denver Nuggets, finishing with 16 points and seven rebounds. However, he's now dealing with abdominal soreness, so he's on track to join Luke Kennard (calf) and Paul George (hamstring) on the shelf. Norman Powell, who had 18 points in the meeting with Denver, is expected to draw plenty of interest from DFS managers once Wall is officially ruled out.
Luke Kennard Out Again Versus Houston
Los Angeles Clippers guard Luke Kennard (calf) won't play against the Rockets, marking his fourth straight absence. Paul George (hamstring) will also miss this one, so Kennard won't be available on Sunday for a potential spot start. Instead, Terance Mann, who's averaged 11.6 points, 4.7 boards, and 2.4 assists while shooting 39.6% from deep in 18 starts this year, should remain in the starting lineup.
