No Surgery Needed For Pat Freiermuth
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (knee) suffered a left knee sprain in the Week 18 win over the Cleveland Browns, but he won't require surgery. Freiermuth was quickly ruled out, but he should be fine for next season after the Steelers were eliminated from postseason contention when the Miami Dolphins beat the New York Jets. There's a chance that the 24-year-old won't be ready for offseason workouts in the spring, but as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he should be good to go for training camp in the summer. In his second NFL season, Freiermuth had 63 receptions on 98 targets for 732 yards and two touchdowns. He bested his rookie marks in catches and receiving yards, but his TD production was a disappointment after he found the end zone seven times in his rookie season.

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (foot) missed a second straight day of practice this week on Thursday. Despite missing practice on Wednesday, Freiermuth said that he still expected to play in Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers. However, with two DNPs now under his belt, his status is certainly worth watching this weekend. Freiermuth has been a must-start TE1 in fantasy this year when healthy, as he comes into Week 15 as the TE5 in half-point PPR scoring with 53 receptions, 630 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games. He caught three of his six targets for 33 yards and his second TD of the year in the Week 14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. If he ends up not playing, Zach Gentry would be afforded more playing time as Pittsburgh's No. 1 tight end.

Freiermuth didn't practice on Wednesday, but he expects to be able to play on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers in Week 15. The 24-year-old caught three of his six targets for 33 yards and his second touchdown of the season last week while injured. Freiermuth checks in as the TE5 on the year in half-point PPR setups with 53 catches on 82 targets for 630 yards and two touchdowns. Both of his touchdown catches in 2022 have been thrown by quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who could make the start against the Panthers on Sunday if rookie Kenny Pickett can't clear the concussion protocol.
