- ATLLucas Luetge Gets $1.55 Million To Avoid Arbitration
Left-hander Lucas Luetge and the Atlanta Braves avoided arbitration after agreeing to a one-year, $1.55 million deal. Luetge was waived by the Yankees during the offseason and traded to the Braves a few weeks ago. The 35-year-old made quite an impact for the Yankees in 2022 after molding a 2.67 ERA across 50 appearances. He whiffed 60 batters with a 23.9% strikeout rate. Along with Wandy Peralta, Luetge was the only lefty arm out of the Yankees bullpen. He provided consecutive sub-three ERA's in the two years that he spent in the Bronx, and the southpaw will likely display similar numbers in Atlanta. Luetge will make a fantasy impact if you are looking for a dependable bullpen arm.

The Atlanta Braves and relief pitcher Joe Jimenez avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.765 million deal on Friday. The Braves picked up Jimenez in a trade last month with the Detroit Tigers. The 27-year-old right-hander had a career-best 3.49 ERA (2.00 FIP), 1.09 WHIP, two saves, 77 strikeouts and 13 walks in 56 2/3 relief innings in 2022 for the Tigers. He has 20 career saves in six major-league seasons with Detroit, but he'll probably only have any fantasy value in holds leagues in 2023 as one of Atlanta's setup men in front of closer Raisel Iglesias. Jimenez holds a 5.24 ERA (4.03 FIP) and 1.34 WHIP in 266 major-league relief innings.
Source : RotoBallerUpdated : Jan 13, 2023, 11:11:29 PM - ATLBraves Sign Joshua Fuentes
The Atlanta Braves signed infielder Joshua Fuentes to a minor-league deal on Saturday. Fuentes did not play at all in the big leagues in 2022. He began the year with Triple-A Buffalo in the Toronto Blue Jays' system, hitting .162/.205/.200 with a homer and five RBI in 29 games before playing in the Mexican independent league the rest of the year. The 29-year-old will simply be trying to impress in spring training, but he's likely to begin the 2023 campaign in the minors as infield depth for the Braves. Fuentes has played in three seasons in the majors and has hit .243/.269/.377 with a .646 OPS, 12 home runs, 57 RBI, 52 runs scored and two stolen bases in 149 games for the Colorado Rockies. He won't enter the 2023 season on the fantasy radar.

The Atlanta Braves acquired left-hander Lucas Luetge from the New York Yankees on Wednesday in exchange for minor-league right-hander Indigo Diaz and infielder Caleb Durbin. To make room on their 40-man roster, the Braves designated infielder Lewin Diaz for assignment. Luetge finds a new home after he was designated for assignment by the Yanks last week. The 35-year-old southpaw reliever was sharp in 57 1/3 relief innings in the Bronx last season, posting a 2.67 ERA (3.02 FIP), 1.39 WHIP, two saves and a 23.9 percent strikeout rate in his 50 appearances out of the bullpen. He also had a sub-3.00 ERA for the Yanks in 2021, but before that he hadn't pitched in the big leagues since 2015 for the Seattle Mariners. Luetge will have a shot to give Atlanta some left-handed relief depth in 2023.

The Atlanta Braves acquired outfielder Eli White from the Texas Rangers on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations. To make room for White on the 40-man roster, the Braves designated infielder Hoy Park for assignment. The Rangers found a trade partner for White after they designated him for assignment last week. The 28-year-old played in 47 games for Texas in 2022, slashing just .200/.274/.305 with a .578 OPS, three home runs, 10 RBI, 16 runs scored and 12 stolen bases in 117 plate appearances. His season was ended early in June due to knee and wrist injuries, but he should be healthy for spring training in 2023. If he can stay healthy and productive at the plate, White could compete for part-time playing time in left field for the Braves next year.

The Atlanta Braves signed catcher Sean Murphy to a six-year, $76 million contract extension on Tuesday. The deal includes a $15 million team option for the 2029 season. The Braves locked Murphy up for the long haul after acquiring him in a trade from the Oakland Athletics just a few weeks ago. The 28-year-old was regarded as one of the better defensive catchers in the league before last season (his fourth with the A's), when he slashed .250/.332/.426 with a .759 OPS, a career-high 18 home runs, 66 RBI, 67 runs scored and a stolen base in 612 plate appearances and 148 games. Murphy has quickly become one of the best all-around catchers in baseball and will receive a big fantasy boost at a scarce position with his move to a much better team in the Braves.

The Atlanta Braves signed free-agent relief pitcher Jackson Stephens to a one-year, non-guaranteed split contract Monday, the team reported on their Twitter account. The 28-year-old pitched 53 2/3 innings out of the bullpen for the Braves in 2022, going 3-3 with two saves and a 3.69 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 20% strikeout rate. While Stephens may be a useful bullpen piece for the Braves throughout the season, it would be surprising to see him bring any fantasy value given the other strong arms available for high-leverage situations.
Source : RotoBallerUpdated : Dec 27, 2022, 5:11:49 AM - ATLBraves Acquire Lewin Diaz From The Orioles
The Atlanta Braves acquired first baseman Lewin Diaz from the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations. Diaz was designated for assignment by the Miami Marlins in November and has been passed around by the Pittsburgh Pirates and Orioles this offseason. He'll obviously be blocked at the big-league level by elite slugger Matt Olson. The 26-year-old Dominican left-handed hitter played in 58 games for the Fish in 2022, slashing just .169/.224/.288 with five home runs, 11 RBI, 12 runs scored and a stolen base in 174 plate appearances. Diaz has struggled to make consistent contact in three major-league seasons in Miami, with a career line of .181/.227/.340 with a .567 OPS, 13 home runs and 99 strikeouts in 343 plate appearances.

The Atlanta Braves and free-agent outfielder Jordan Luplow agreed to a one-year, $1.4 million deal Monday, per MLB.com's Mark Bowman. The Braves attempted to acquire the 29-year-old in 2022 via trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks, but they opted not to move him. Luplow is a strong defensive player but slashed just .176/.274/.361 with 11 home runs, 28 RBI and five steals in 234 plate appearances last season. While the Braves outfield is still up in the air, Luplow's low batting average and lack of upside in counting stats limit his fantasy value, even if he were to see consistent plate appearances.

The Atlanta Braves acquired infielder/outfielder Hoy Park from the Boston Red Sox on Friday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Park was already traded from the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Red Sox in November. The 26-year-old played in only 23 games for the Pirates last season, slashing .216/.276/.373 with two home runs, six RBI, seven runs scored and one stolen base. He'll serve as organizational depth for the Braves moving forward and is likely to begin the 2023 season with Triple-A Gwinnett. Park has played in 68 major-league games over the last two years for the Bucs and New York Yankees and has hit just .201/.291/.346 with a .638 OPS, five home runs, 20 RBI, 23 runs scored and two stolen bases in 210 plate appearances.
