“We’re Optimistic”: The Representatives of Jimmy Garoppolo Hopeful on His Shoulder Injury Recovery, Claim Bucs Report Was False

Jimmy Garoppolo was never going to be dealt to the Buccaneers this summer, but his agent has issued another refusal in case anyone needed it. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network was informed by Don Yee, the representatives for both Jimmy Garoppolo and Tom Brady, that the podcaster who said Garoppolo may be dealt to the Buccaneers was mistaken.

As the obvious successor to Tom Brady, Garoppolo will go to Tampa. basically a repeat of New England 2014–17. It makes little sense for the Buccaneers to sign Garoppolo at this time unless he comes with a long-term deal designating him as Tom Brady’s successor as of 2023. Why would Garoppolo forego the opportunity to start this season somewhere else and then become a free agent in March? In that manner, he would undoubtedly earn more money. Now, Garoppolo’s agent has claimed that the Bucs report was false, and the player is recovering well from his shoulder injury.

Agent of Jimmy Garoppolo provides injury update

“He’s progressing well and on schedule,” Yee said via ProFootballTalk.

“We’re optimistic about the upcoming season. Over the weekend, a report came out that asserted that I had spoken to a media member about his future, but the report was false.”

Garoppolo is on his way out in San Francisco anyway, since the 49ers have chosen to move on from Trey Lance despite dealing three first-round draught selections to get him last year. Trey Lance, the third overall choice in the 2021 draught, may start for the San Francisco 49ers next season after serving as Jimmy Garoppolo’s backup for a year.

While nothing is certain at this moment, Lance informed the media he is grateful for the opportunity to have studied under the seasoned signal-caller.
