‘We all know he isn’t winning titles without Steph’ – Anonymous NBA GM makes brutal claim about Kevin Durant amid trade rumours

Kevin Durant was expected to fetch the most significant trade offer in NBA history as one of the finest players in the world. Instead, the two-time Finals MVP is still on the Brooklyn Nets roster weeks after submitting his first trade request, and it appears that he is content to continue representing the team.

Nobody anticipated this shift when the free agency first began, and many are now questioning what went wrong. There is a great deal of scepticism that Durant can even win another championship without the support of Curry and the Warriors, according to one rival general manager. Durant picked the Heat and Suns as his preferred teams, but both would have to sacrifice some of their depth to sign him.

Some people may believe it’s worthwhile for a player like Durant. Not enough teams now share that sentiment. Despite KD’s brilliance and the influence he has on the court, he hasn’t demonstrated that he is capable of winning a championship without Steph Curry’s help. He only reached the Oklahoma City Finals once, where he fell to the LeBron-led Heat in a lopsided series. He still had players like Russell Westbrook and James Harden in the 2012 NBA Finals appearance with Oklahoma City Thunder.

Now, a rival NBA GM has stated that “Kevin Durant needs Steph Curry to win titles” and that is why not many are keen on signing him. Reports have not named the manager who made this brutal remark.

His stay in Brooklyn has been marked by conflict and volatility, and the Nets haven’t posed much of an East threat. They finished 7th in the East and were swept by the Celtics 4-0 in the first round. They lost to the Buck 4-3 in the second round of the 2021 playoffs.

It makes sense why teams are afraid to transfer when considering those realities and the extremely high cost. Regardless of his preferences, it is commonly accepted that the former MVP will return to Brooklyn for the upcoming season.

Kyrie Irving, who has received even less trade interest than his co-star, is in a similar scenario. If nothing changes, the stillness we’re experiencing will last through August and perhaps into the fall training camp.
