The Golden State Warriors won their seventh overall NBA championship by beating the Boston Celtics 103-90 at TD Garden in Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals. This was primarily due to the brilliance of Steph Curry, who also clinched his first NBA MVP award in the series.

In doing so, the Warriors eclipsed the Bulls, who have six titles, to take third place on the league’s list of most NBA Championships won by a team. The Warriors now are only trailing the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers, who all have 17 titles each.

The Bulls won six championships with Michael Jordan as their leader, in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, and 1998. In six NBA Finals games, that squad won six rings. Jordan was the MVP in all six finals wherein the Bulls won the title, giving him 6 NBA rings and 6 MVP medals. He is trailed by LeBron James, who has four NBA rings, however, James remains the only player to have won NBA titles with three different teams. Meanwhile, the likes of Magic Johnson, Tim Duncan and the late Kobe Bryant won five NBA rings each.

However, Steph Curry seems to be joining that list of elite players and his Warriors side is once again writing their name into the history books.  On Thursday, the Warriors demonstrated in Boston that they are among the elite of the great teams in the NBA. The Warriors beat the Celtics in their own backyard and silenced plenty of doubters along the way.

The Warriors raced to a 22-point lead in the third quarter. However, Curry hit three-pointers from of the western edge of San Francisco Bay to the eastern edge of Boston Harbor. The Celtics cut the deficit to eight points in the last six minutes but it wasn’t enough for Ime Udoka’s side to stop the San Francisco-based team.
