‘The rookies that will soon lead the future for Portland’ – NBA fans react after Trail Blazers clinch 2022 Summer Legue crown
On Sunday, the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the New York Knicks 85-77 to win their second Summer League championship. Portland star Trendon Watford won MVP honors. For the Trail Blazers, Brandon Williams had a game-high 22 points, five assists, and three rebounds. With 19 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, Watford contributed as well to the win.
With 19 points, three rebounds, and three assists, Quentin Grimes led the way for the Knicks. Miles McBride contributed an additional 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Prior to the final game, Grimes had an excellent Summer League performance, averaging 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.

They made a run, according to Watford, in the fourth or late third. “I’m really proud of all these guys, man. We stayed together and turned it up when we got back in. Our connection clicked from the start, and I’m very happy for all these people. It was big-time.”
Five Knicks players finished in double figures, led by Quentin Grimes’ 19 points, while coach Tom Thibodeau watched from the courtside. For New York, Miles McBride scored 17 points, Jericho Sims added 13, Feron Hunt added 10, and Micah Potter added 10.
The Knicks were one of the best scoring teams during Summer League competition, averaging 95.3 points in four games, which ranked third. Prior to the championship game, they had scored over 100 points in three of their four games, and oddly, the only game in which they had been limited to less than 100 points came on July 11 against the Trail Blazers.
The outcome of the game was almost exactly the same as the final score of the championship game since Portland once again held the Knicks to only 77 points because of its strong defense. The Blazers caused the Knicks to commit 18 turnovers as a result of their disruptive defensive play throughout the whole game. That has been the Blazers’ guiding principle throughout Summer League competition, and you could see the players embracing it in the championship game.

The real question is why was Steph scared to step onto the court against the 2022 Summer League Champion Portland Trail Blazers? Don't claim to be a "champ" and then be fearful of the new kids on the block. System player. 😤
