Should The Bucs Trade For 49ers QB Trey Lance?

It has come increasingly obvious that the Buccaneers have the worst QB room in the NFL, should should they make a trade for 49ers QB Trey Lance?

In hindsight it makes sense, Trey Lance was previously the third overall pick, but he hasn’t got much of a chance in the NFL. The reports coming out of camp are that he is going to lose the starting job to Brock Purdy, this would plummet Trey Lance’s trade value, making him a good pick up for any team in need of a quarterback.

On the Buccaneer’s side of things, they have some of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL on their roster. Kyle Trask and Baker Mayfield are both competing for the starting job and both of them do not look like starting quarterbacks in the NFL. Just a couple of days ago, a report came out telling the public that Baker Mayfield had thrown 8 INTs in just 9 days of practice. Trask is inexperienced in actual NFL games but he is still limiting his turnovers in practice, only throwing 2.

Should the Bucs trade for Trey Lance?

Personally, I think they shouldn’t, what do they have to lose with Kyle Trask. They just drafted him in the second round a couple years ago, whether they start Mayfield, Lance, or Kyle Trask this is going to be a below average football team so instead of trading for an unproven quarterback, start the guy that is already on your roster, that being Kyle Trask. However, they should not start Baker Mayfield, like I said they have nothing to lose, Baker Mayfield may give them a higher ceiling but this should be the year of testing for the Buccaneers. Now they are in a weak division, there is a possibility they could make the playoffs given how strong their defense is but it’s not like Baker Mayfield will put them over the top I think that Kyle Trask may be an experienced but he’s good enough to lead them to the playoffs, in this terrible division.

There is no point of spending draft picks on an inexperienced quarterback, especially when you are a rebuilding team coming off a Super Bowl win just three years ago. Trey Lance has been losing the quarterback battle in San Francisco to Sam Darnold who has lost his job in New York, in Carolina and now in San Francisco to Brock Purdy. If the team that took Lance with the third overall pick in draft and traded for him aren’t confident that he is a better starter than Sam Darnold, I don’t think any team should take a shot on this quarterback.
