Should Joshua Dobbs continue as Tennessee Titans’ starting QB?

The Tennessee Titans confirmed late on Thursday that Joshua Dobbs would be starting at quarterback for their Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys. While there were plenty of raised eyebrows at the 27-year-old, he managed to show that he has what it takes to play in the NFL.

Dobbs failed to get the Titans a much-needed victory on Thursday night but he played fearlessly and even managed to throw a touchdown in the 27-13 defeat against the Cowboys. He added 252 passing yards and completed 53.1% of his passes as well.

Should the Titans start Joshua Dobbs against the Jacksonville Jaguars in all-important AFC Sorth decider?

As the Titans are still in the hunt to clinch a playoff berth in Week 18, Tennessee fans seem to be impressed with Dobbs. In fact, Dobbs wasn’t even considered to start against Dallas until late on Thursday. Dobbs was signed by the Titans off the Detroit Lions practice squad just over eight days ago and he got the nod to start ahead of  Malik Willis as the rookie has not had much joy in his three starts.

As Tennessee is without first-choice quarterback Ryan Tannehill, they may opt to field Dobbs in their final regular season game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18. If the Titans beat the Jaguars, Mike Vrabel’s side will be guaranteed of a place in the postseason.

This is because they will have a better head-to-head record if the Jaguars manage to win in Week 17. As things stand, Jacksonville is leading the AFC South with a 7-8 record. Meanwhile, the Titans are on 7-9. Hence, Tennessee needs to win their final game of the regular season to qualify for the knockout stages as divisional winners.
