Shaquille O’Neal questions whether Jazz talisman Donovan Mitchell can take his game to the next level

Donovan Mitchell is supposedly not Shaquille O’Neal’s favorite player. Although he acknowledges the young shooting guard’s talent, he doesn’t believe he has what it takes to rise to the top.

Despite Mitchell’s excellent play, the Utah Jazz hasn’t had much luck with him. O’Neal has frequently attacked him and most recently discussed the Jazz point guard on his show.

Shaq has been the heart and soul of several championship teams, so he knows what it takes to win it all. He does not, however, think that he defamed Donovan Mitchell.

Four-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal blasts Donovan Mitchell

Donovan Mitchell has been outstanding ever since he joined the league. He can score between 25 and 30 points every night and has recently been among the league’s most reliable scorers.

But NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal doesn’t believe he has what it takes to rank among the all-time best players. Shaq has a wealth of basketball experience and feels qualified to discuss other players because he has won several titles.

“I’m not slandering; I’m just giving him information so he can be the best out there,” Shaquille said. “I speak facts. I say, ‘Yeah, you’re good, but do you want to be great? Do you want to be the best?’ You can hear what I say or how I say it. All I know is that I’m giving information.”

Unfortunately, as unique as Donovan Mitchell is, he couldn’t carry the Utah Jazz alone. He helped Rudy Gobert and the other players, but the competition from him was also very tough. Mitchell could have a great season next year but Shaq is still not impressed with the ‘Spida’

While speaking as an analyst recently, Shaq said, “I could say what I want to, dude. I have how many rings on me? Four, dude. One in Miami and three in LA, bro. And I ought to have acquired one in Orlando, but I lacked the basketball acumen to reach there. Look, now that I know, I’m going to share that information with you (Mitchell), brother. It is entirely up to you, brother if you choose not to use that information.”

Shaquille O’Neal could soon change his mind about Donovan Mitchell. The All-Star guard will play with different players next year, as Gobert was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

There are a lot of talks about possible trades for Mitchell, but if he stays with the Jazz, he could have a breakout season and even average 30-plus points per game.

One of the league’s most adaptable scorers is the three-time All-Star. The Jazz might not win the league title without Gobert, but watching how far Mitchell can lead the club without him will be intriguing.
