NFL and NBA players pay tribute to rapper Takeoff, who was shot dead aged 28

Several NBA and NFL stars have paid tribute to rapper Takeoff, who was shot and died early on Tuesday morning. The American rapper was shot dead at a bowling alley in Houston, and the 28-year-old died on the spot.

Takeoff, real name Kirshnik Khari Ball, was a member of the Atlanta-based rap group Migos with his uncle Quavos and cousin Offset. The influential rapper was discovered dead at the site, with police reporting that two people were hurt during the shootout but are expected to recover.

According to TMZ, Takeoff and Quavo were playing dice at the bowling alley when a fight started. It prompted one of the guys involved in the fight to shoot fire, killing the young rapper after he was shot in the head or near his head.

After Takeoff’s death was made public, tributes poured in from all over the world, with other musicians, actors, and sports figures grieving the rapper’s passing. The tributes were led by YouTuber turned-boxer Jake Paul, who also sent a message to the kids to stop using weapons to solve disputes.

“Senseless killings must cease. We must band together. TAKEOFF, REST IN PEACE “Paul penned a letter.” To all the young people out there, put down your guns and take up some boxing gloves to settle your disagreements. Violence is not the solution.”

Several NBA and NFL players also sent out their condolences to Takeoff. The likes of Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young, Los Angeles Lakers‘ LeBron James, New Orleans Saints’ Alvin Kamara, and former NFL star Darrelle Revis were some of the many to pay tributes to the rapper.
