New Commanders scandal: Will the NFL finally go after Dan Snyder?

In a turn of events that should surprise absolutely nobody, the Washington Commanders are being investigated by the league – again. Congress is investigating whether the team used a scheme to hold back ticket revenue that is required to be shared with other teams. Under league rules, teams must share 40% of net ticket revenue with the NFL, which disperses the funds.

We all know how the Washington franchise works. It’s a toxic place, with malpractice about everywhere, whether it’s the cheerleaders’ treatment, with people all over the organization (you might remember how they did Scot McCloughan dirty before firing him), and it’s been a while since the Commanders were competitive on the field – in fact, they haven’t won a playoff game since 2005. Think about it!

But the league will be involved now after a new scandal is being investigated. The Commanders messed with the league’s money, and you can be damn sure that the NFL will go after the franchise – they did lots of worse things before, but that’s how the NFL works, right?

Congress got into the case

At this point, you know that the league is investigating everything that has happened in the franchise over the last few years. But the NFL is a hypocrite, and while they pretend to care (spoiler: they don’t) about important matters, such as the sexual misconduct accusations regarding the owner and his friends, the league will really get involved now that money has become a point of discussion.

Teams are required to share some of their ticket revenue with the league, which disperses the funds everywhere. As much as the league has been protecting Snyder over the investigations, he’ll be alone if Congress finds out that he really used the scheme. The fallout will be immense – and, frankly, if Dan Snyder gets kicked out of the league, it will be the best for every NFL fan. He’s an incredibly pathetic owner.
