Dan Snyder with yet another sexual harassment claim

Death, taxes, Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder involved in a scandal.

It looks like there’s a perpetual rule where the newly-named Commanders can’t operate like a regular franchise. Owner Dan Snyder is prone to scandals regarding every single part of the organization, from the cheerleaders to the former president to the owner himself. And while the team would like to celebrate the new name, Snyder again found a way to end the happiness of the moment.

According to the NY Post, six former Washington employees levied allegations of sexual harassment against the owner, with one former cheerleader suggesting that Snyder wanted to make a video where the cheerleaders were exposing their private areas.

Melanie Coburn has been the most vocal former cheerleader regarding Snyder’s practices while she worked there, and she testified over two hours in a roundtable hearing with the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. She pointed out that Snyder hired or fired employees based solely on their appearance. “An NFL owner who hired and fired employees based solely on their looks, it’s despicable”, Coburn said.

There’s also a lot of other accusations over the conduct of the owner, such as Snyder inviting prostitutes to his home and telling some of his employees to stay at the basement, or inappropriately touching one cheerleader, and trying to coax her into his limousine before his attorney telling him not to do so. The same cheerleader was also told not to repeat this story to anyone out of the door, a clear attempt to keep Snyder’s abuses shut.

Coburn also claimed that she was harassed over 200 times while she worked as a cheerleader for the Commanders. And it all started with Dan Snyder. That’s the worst part: the owner not only knew about the workplace culture but he also enabled it. He was part of the abuses!

We know the NFL tends to let their owners get away with a lot of stuff because they’re rich white people. And, yes, a lot of their supposed care to social issues is full of BS. But there’s got to be a limit even for this league, right? They can’t just let Dan Snyder do whatever he wants just because he’s got loads of money. Even the NBA drew a line with Donald Sterling.

The NFL should do the same and force Snyder to sell the team. He’s a disgrace as a human being and he’s a disgrace to the NFL.
