NBA fans react after LA Clippers sign Ivica Zubac on 3-year, $33M extension
Ivica Zubac, a center for the Los Angeles Clippers, and the team reached a contract extension on Tuesday. The organization declined the 25-year-old Croatian’s $7.5 million option, which led to the new agreement that maintains the 7-footer as the franchise’s longest-tenured player.
Director of basketball operations Lawrence Frank stated that Zu “has been a backbone of our club for four seasons, durable and reliable.” “He is a dependable teammate and a steady player who is only now reaching the peak of his abilities. We are forward to watching him develop more.

Zubac started 76 games last season and averaged a career-high 10.3, points 8.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.6 blocked shots per game (1.0). His 25 double-doubles were the most by a Clippers player since 2017–18, a career-high. He played with the Los Angeles Lakers for his first two NBA seasons. Robert Covington, a forward, has already agreed to a contract extension with the Clippers.

For what he offers, Ivica Zubac is one of the better values in the NBA. The Clippers extending him for a similar annual value to what he was already getting is a big win.

Ivica Zubac has been one of the most underrated centers. He's almost always available (important), a great rim-defender, and willing to come off the bench whenever needed. You don't just find guys like that.

Really curious to see where the Clippers go from here with the center position. They have one center in Ivica Zubac (team option on him) and Isaiah Hartenstein is a free agent.

A third commented, “Really curious to see where the Clippers go from here with the center position. They have one center in Ivica Zubac (team option on him) and Isaiah Hartenstein is a free agent.” and a fourth chimed in, “The Clippers retaining Ivica Zubac is more than just keeping a 25-year-old starting center. It’s about rewarding a player who has developed as a team leader while continuing to steadily improve.”
