Lonnie Walker IV Was The Highlight Of Game 4, As He Lead Lakers To A Win Against Warriors

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors 104-101 on Monday to win Game 4 and grab a commanding 3-1 series lead which was orchestrated by Lonnie Walker.

50 points were scored by LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and others combined, but Lonnie Walker, who scored all 15 of his points in the fourth quarter, was the game’s star. Los Angeles scored the opening three baskets of the extra time to overturn a seven-point Warriors advantage.

“This is something I’ve been dreaming of doing,” Walker said. “Not just being a part of the playoffs, but impacting it.”

It began with a three-pointer 15 seconds into the fourth. Next, a layup. A 22-footer that was placed just in front of the three-point line came after a short jump shot. Walker reacted after Curry made a score. With four minutes left, a seven-foot floater leveled the score, and with just under two minutes left, a 15-foot shot gave the Lakers the lead. Walker made two free throws with 15 seconds left to give Los Angeles its winning margin. James and Davis ran to Walker and gave him hugs as soon as the buzzer sounded.

“We don’t win this game without Lonnie Walker, that’s for sure,” James said of Walker in his postgame interview on TNT.

Stephen Curry led the Warriors with a triple-double of 31 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds, but his shooting performance was poor; he made just 12 of 30 field goal attempts, including 3 of 14 from beyond the arc. Curry had two jump shots with a chance to go in front with less than 30 seconds left and missed them both.

The Lakers required Walker’s offense in the fourth. They required his defense the whole game. Walker participated in the defense of Thompson, who shot just 3-of-11 from the field. Each time, he stood up for Poole. Poole managed 0 for 4. On Monday, the Warriors made 16 mistakes. For two of them, Walker’s two thefts were responsible.

“I think the hardest thing of being able to play a lot and then not playing at all is sticking with it,” Walker said. “There’s a lot of uncontrollable things that you can’t control and you just got to take it day to day, stack the days, and every single day you’re trying to be better than who you were yesterday. So that’s what I’m always trying to accomplish, is just to reach my best self.”
