LeBron James speaks to Adam Silver about bringing a team from Las Vegas to the NBA

LeBron James, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, has talked to NBA commissioner Adam Silver directly about his desire to own a Las Vegas expansion team one day. During the postgame press conference that took place after the Lakers’ loss to the Phoenix Suns at T-Mobile Arena on Wednesday, he informed Silver of his plans in Sin City and shared them with the media.

He proclaimed that this was the best fan base on the entire planet, “In the future, I would like to bring a team to this location. It is my assumption that Adam is currently in Abu Dhabi. On the other hand, it’s highly likely that he reads each and every interview and transcript that NBA players send in. Like a direct outcome of this, Adam, I just want a squad to be here “he said

On Wednesday, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Atlanta Hawks are scheduled to play in a game that will take place while Silver is in the United Arab Emirates participating in a preseason tour. There have been rumblings that the National Basketball Association (NBA) is considering adding two expansion clubs in the near future, maybe one in each of the cities of Seattle and Las Vegas.

In June, when hosting “The Shop: Uninterrupted” on YouTube, LeBron James expressed his desire to one day own a sports team in the Las Vegas area. The 37-year-old man is already a billionaire and has a stake in both the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool FC. He is also a part-owner of both teams.

However, the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the NBA and the players’ union forbids him from ever becoming an owner. This is due to the fact that he is still a player in the league.

“During the term of this Agreement, no NBA player may possess or keep a direct or indirect share in the shareholdings of any NBA team or in any organization or entity, whether privately or publicly purchased, that owns any involvement in any NBA team,” the agreement states; “provided, however, that any player may have the authority of publicly-traded securities constituting less than 5% of the shareholdings in an entity or company that indirectly or directly owns any NBA team.”

Until the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA) expires at the end of the 2023–2024 basketball season, this clause prevents LeBron James from retiring from professional basketball. James has claimed in the past that he plans to continue playing until his oldest son, Bronny James, 18, joins the NBA, with the goal of being the first father-son team in the history of the NBA to achieve this feat.
