John Wall reveals why he feels like the ‘third best player’ on the LA Clippers’ roster

John Wall has played in around half of the previous three seasons’ games while missing two altogether. Wall inked a contract with the Clippers for $13 million over two years after reaching a buyout deal with the Houston Rockets. Wall will make almost the same money as his $47 million player option with the $40 million the Rockets owe him.

With the Clippers, Wall will be a part of a “big three” with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. It would be interesting to watch how Wall does once he recovers from his Achilles injury.

In an interview with ESPN’s Ohm Youngimusk, Wall discussed being the Clippers’ third option: “That was sort of the driving force behind my choice. I am aware of my talent as a player and the other areas where I need to improve, most notably my ability to make catch-and-shoot shots.”

“I believe that’s an opportunity for me to shine and it should be entertaining, because sometimes in the fourth quarter a lot of teams just concentrate on Kawhi and Paul George.” Wall further stated.

Wall has excelled more in the paint than outside and has traditionally been a pass-first point guard. He can help the Clippers by drawing the defense, collapsing the defense, opening up shooting, or protecting the wing. Wall, George, and Leonard are all making a full recovery from their afflictions. In 2022, it’s anticipated that the Clippers’ salary would surpass that of the Warriors. The team’s salary for the 2022–23 season is $192 million, the biggest in the league, according to Spotrac.

Leonard and George joined the Clippers thanks to Steve Ballmer’s generous financial support, but their time there has been marked by injuries. George played in 51 games while Leonard missed the whole year. The Clippers’ record at the time was 24-27. They were eliminated from the playoffs after two play-in losses.

There’s no denying that this team has more skill than any Wall has ever encountered throughout his NBA career. Having Marcin Gortat and Kelly Oubre Jr. as your other teammates don’t quite equal having Ivica Zubac and Reggie Jackson as passing possibilities. Despite the advantages that come with having Bradley Beal as a longstanding running partner.
