Jaylin Williams highlights ambition to succeed with Thunder by signing multi-year contract
The Oklahoma City Thunder put a lot of effort into the 2022 NBA Draft. The Thunder came away with their second consecutive four-prospect class in the second round of this rebuild. Prior to the opening tip of the Salt Lake City Summer League session earlier this week, the OKC Thunder rapidly inked contracts with the second overall pick Chet Holmgren, the eleventh overall pick Ousmane Dieng, and the 34th overall pick Jaylin Williams.
Nevertheless, given their Rookie-scale slotting nature, those transactions are simpler to execute. There are more talks involved with second-round choices like Jaylin Williams because of issues like team/player option, non-guaranteed money, term, and quantity.

Williams, who was selected by OKC as the No. 34 overall choice in this month’s draft, has reportedly agreed to a four-year, $8.2 million agreement, according to The Athletic. As a sophomore with the Razorbacks, Williams averaged 10.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, earning him a spot on the First Team All-SEC and All-SEC Defensive Team. The Fort Smith native topped the nation in charges filed as well.

Williams and the Thunder are participating in the NBA Summer League, which has games in Las Vegas until July 15. The OKC Thunder’s history of signing two-way players to conventional NBA contracts was the one factor that gave the hope any basis. However, most agencies just aren’t willing to wager on it, especially since OKC chose to make the decision with the 34th spot rather than moving back.
Sam Presti selected the former Razorback in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft, and he has since pledged his career to the Thunder. Due to his impeccable timing, while drawing charges, J-Will has already caused a stir on the Thunder.
Williams needs time to develop, and this agreement should provide him with the security he needs. Jaylin is a skilled defender, but he needs to work on his offensive game if he wants to remain a center in the league. With this deal, Williams appears to have the potential to realize his potential and develop into a valuable player for the Thunder.
Williams will get the chance to fight for playing time in the upcoming season since the Thunder strongly thought that he should be added to the team. The team’s roster is packed, but they see this as a fantastic opportunity for individuals to prove themselves.
