Jaren Jackson Jr injury update: How long will the Memphis Grizzlies star be out for?

Jaren Jackson Jr., a center for the Memphis Grizzlies, will once again have to sit out a substantial portion of games for the 2022-23 season. The 22-year-old underwent surgery to fix a stress fracture in his right foot, according to a statement from the Grizzlies. Prior to that, in August 2020, Jackson Jr. tore his meniscus and didn’t return until April 2021.

According to recent estimates, the forward for the Memphis Grizzlies may be out for four to six months. Jackson has made a name for himself as the team’s second-best player and a rising star in this competition. What may this imply for the Grizzlies if he doesn’t return until the end of December 2022 at the very latest or the end of October at the earliest?

Many people think that a dynasty may be developing in Memphis after the Grizzlies emerged as one of the most competitive teams in the Western Conference last season. This is due in large part to the roster’s youthful composition.

The Grizzlies may have to play catch-up for the remainder of the season to attempt to regain the seeding that they may lose without Jackson on the court for perhaps the first quarter of the season.

Despite the fact that Jackson will be gone for a substantial portion of next season, the Grizzlies have one of the best bench depths in the league and have some experience playing without a star after Ja Morant was forced to miss a sizable portion of last season due to injury.

Last season, Morant missed about 25 games. Jackson would wind up losing less time than Morant did last year if he is able to recuperate from this operation in late November or early December. In 78 regular-season games last year, the 22-year-old averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.
