Abdul-Jabbar faced up against Wes Unseld and the Baltimore Bullets in the first of his several championship games. After averaging 31 points, 16 rebounds, and 3 assists per game throughout the regular season, Abdul-Jabbar had just won his first regular-season MVP award. In a four-game sweep, the Bucks were able to defeat the Bullets and win their first-ever NBA title.

This victory demonstrated to the world that Abdul-Jabbar could triumph at any level. He was already one of the most successful players in basketball. Notably, Kareem won the Finals MVP award for his great series effort.

At the conclusion of the 1988 campaign, Kareem and the “Showtime” Lakers win their final championship. The Lakers narrowly defeated the powerful Pistons in a tough seven-game series.
