‘He can fit in anywhere’ – NBA fans react as multiple teams report interest in signing Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Utah Jazz is starting to warm up to outside interest in their star player Donovan Mitchell. Following rumours that Utah was apparently interested in learning about potential trade possibilities for Mitchell, the Knicks are reportedly trying to acquire Mitchell.
Mitchell has ties to New York as well. He was raised in Westchester, New York, which is home to the Knicks’ training center. The company that presently represents Mitchell, CAA, was originally under the direction of Knicks president Leon Rose.
After previously shutting down inquiries on moving All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell, rival teams say the Utah Jazz are showing a willingness to listen on possible trade scenarios, sources tell ESPN.

Andy Larsen of the Salt Lake Tribune reported on Sunday that Mitchell’s availability had been discussed with rival teams. Utah, however, refused to engage in any discussions because it believed rival organizations were attempting to “pounce on a perceived opportunity to trade for Mitchell at a discount.”
This is hardly shocking news, and many people likely believed Mitchell’s time in Salt Lake City was up after the Rudy Gobert deal. Rudy Gobert was traded by the Jazz to the New York Knicks in exchange for four first-round selections, a 2026 first-round pick swap, and the players Patrick Beverley, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro, and Walker Kessler (2022).
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, any prospective trades for Mitchell would be pricey. However, New York may have the resources to achieve it. The Knicks have all of their first-round selections as well as four clubs’ protected picks in the 2023 and 2025 NBA Drafts from the Mavericks, Pistons, Wizards, and Bucks.

Even though Jazz general manager Justin Zanik recently stated that there is no “intent” to trade Mitchell. The chance still exists, and the Knicks may put together the ideal offer for Utah’s star. The 25-year-old led the Jazz in scoring last season with an average of 25.9 points and 5.3 assists per game, helping Utah to its sixth straight playoff spot.

Curious as to where all the “YOU SIGNED A CONTRACT” people are now that the Jazz are open to trading @spidadmitchell .. but if he asked for a trade it would be “we’ve got to do something about these players”

You all have no idea how much we needed a Donovan Mitchell in the state of Utah. He gave so much, while being hated and loathed for calling out the ugliness in the state. You need someone like that to grow. And yet so many cheer for his departure. Why wouldn’t that depress me.
