Deni Avdija injury update: Washington Wizards guard suffers ankle sprain in season opener
On Wednesday, the Washington Wizards were playing the Indiana Pacers, and Deni Avdija was supposed to start at small forward for the Wizards, but he ended up leaving the game with an ankle injury. However, fans of the Wizards and Bradley Beal, who plays on the same team as Avdija, can exhale a little bit easier after hearing some hopeful news concerning Avdija.
Based on the results of the MRI, which were negative, the injury to Vdija’s ankle is not thought to be serious. The Wizards will take this information as a sign of great encouragement. Deni Avdija, one of the most promising young players for the Wizards, was the ninth player overall to be chosen by the organization in the draft for the year 2020.
Avdija just recently finished a successful second season in the NBA. He played in all 82 games; his averages for points and rebounds were 8.4 and 5.2, respectively, while his field goal percentage was 43.2.
Avdija was passed over in favor of Avdija to start at small forward for the Wizards before Wednesday’s game. Avdija was selected. Because of an injury to his back that he had while competing with the Israeli national team outside of the regular season, he was unable to participate in any of the preseason games.
Avdija is also a good defender, and his size on the wing will help Bradley Beal’s game. Avdija started his career as a professional basketball player at 16 when he joined the Maccabi Tel Aviv team that competed in the Israeli League.
He was a member of the Israeli U20 team that competed in FIBA competitions in 2018 and 2019, and he helped the team win two gold medals in those competitions. At the moment, no one knows how much time Avdija might have to miss because of this injury.
As a result of the Wizards picking up the fourth-year team option on Avdija’s rookie contract for the ’23-24 season, the Wizards will have the ability to offer him a rookie scale extension in the summer of 2022. In his first two seasons in the NBA, the 21-year-old former ninth-round pick averaged 7.6 points and 5.1 rebounds.
