Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott Gives Cooper Rush A Nickname

Cooper Rush, the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, assisted in the team’s second straight victory on Monday night, a 23-16 triumph over the New York Giants. After Dak Prescott underwent thumb surgery for the Cowboys, Rush has started every game as the team’s replacement quarterback without failing.

Following the Cowboys’ Monday Night Football victory over the Giants, 23-16, Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott tweeted a succinct and straightforward statement of support for quarterback Cooper Rush.

Ezekiel Elliott Named Cooper Rush As “Cooper Clutch”

Elliott shared the moniker he uses for Rush in a post about his quarterback: “Cooper Clutch.”

On Monday night, Rush did come through in a big way, helping Dallas to a winning record (2-1) and handing his temporarily former team, the Giants, its first season loss.

Late in the third quarter, Elliott’s lone touchdown in the contest helped the Cowboys tie the Giants at 13. Midway in the fourth quarter, Rush then directed the Cowboys on their second straight touchdown drive, giving them the lead.

Rush completed 12 of 13 throws for 129 yards over those two drives. The quarterback completed 21 of his 31 passes for 215 yards towards the end of the game.

As the Cowboys’ starter, Rush has now won three straight games, with two of those victories occurring this year. He also led Dallas to a victory over Minnesota in Week 8 of the previous campaign. Dak Prescott, who is battling with a thumb injury sustained in Week 1, is presently playing in Rush’s place.

When the Cowboys play the Washington Commanders the next week, don’t be shocked if some of the team’s supporters are sporting No. 10 “Clutch” shirts.

Rush isn’t exactly blowing everyone away with his play at centre, but he is demonstrating a great understanding of his position and doing just what is necessary to keep the Cowboys in the game. Rush has done a fantastic job of keeping the Cowboys’ season alive through what was anticipated to be a difficult stretch, even though it is nearly clear that he will be demoted back to second-string responsibilities when Prescott returns from injury, maybe as early as Week 5.
