Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo shares precious advice that he received from Kobe Bryant during workout
Late Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant is a legend in the NBA’s illustrious history. Fans in Los Angeles (and beyond) may still see him wearing his jersey, and his shadow lingers huge over the game’s current roster despite Kobe’s tragic death in a helicopter crash back in January 2020. However, apart from being a legend on the court, Bryant also shared some precious advice to some of the younger generations of NBA players who still hold his words in close proximity.
Westbrook, Kawhi, and Paul George are just a few famous personalities that have sought Kobe’s counsel and instruction on improving their game. After all, why not seek advice from someone who spent his whole Hall of Fame career obsessing over every detail of his game?
Giannis Antetokounmpo entered the NBA as a relative unknown in 2013, when the Milwaukee Bucks picked him with the 15th overall pick. He was a young, slender Greek guy with no basketball experience, and it took him a long to acclimatize to life in the NBA.

Giannis Antetokounmpo worked hard both on and off the court in 2018. He was in the weight room when he wasn’t on the basketball court. He began his career as a thin 6-foot-9, 190-pound Greek unknown. After five years, he had gained 52 pounds and was reported as 6-foot-11.
Boxing was included in Antetokounmpo’s off-court training. In 2017, he was voted the NBA’s Most Improved Player and made his first All-Star squad. His work ethic and desire to improve are unparalleled in the NBA.
We made a lot of noise around these parts when Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has avoided working out with his contemporaries like LeBron James, was allowed to meet with Bryant. Kobe has always been a fan of Gianni’s, praising him and throwing him lofty challenges.
Antetokounmpo said Bryant forced him to shoot 300-400 shots. He wanted to show Bryant he was serious about the training and improvement.
The Greek star stated that Kobe advised him to “always think outside the box and always be a kid,” which astonished him. Antetokounmpo claimed that he advised Kobe that one must be mature while playing and questioned how one could be a child. Bryant said, “A youngster exploits his dream like you can see a kid being imaginative and playing.” You’re constantly eager to discover new things when you’re a youngster. You make inquiries.”
