Blue Jays Pitcher Alek Manoah Reacts To Being Fat-Shamed By MLB Analyst Anthony Recker

Alek Manoah, the pitcher for the Blue Jays, was criticised by MLB Network’s Anthony Recker during a live broadcast of MLB Tonight for allegedly not giving it his all at the gym. As he responded, Manoah’s composure was shaken.

For the MLB Network, Recker, who was once a catcher himself, has been breaking down some of the best plays and players. During one of his segments, he stated to Manoah, “I love you, but show me you’re willing to invest a little more time in the gym.”

He has every right to criticise Recker’s playing career. Recker really had a negative WAR for portions of seven MLB seasons, according to Fangraphs.

Manoah, on the other hand, had a single-season WAR value of 4.1.

MLB has a lengthy history of players who appeared to be overweight yet ended up being tremendously successful. Just a few examples include Bartolo Colon, Tony Gwynn, and Babe Ruth.

Since it doesn’t really matter how he was constructed, as long as the outcomes are there, the critique may not always be justified.

Recker attempted to apologize, but Manoah wasn’t interested. He replied to Recker, “Youre just like everyone else. Love to talk and then wanna say sorry when you get called out. If you wanna see how an All Star, 1st team All-MLB, and Cy young finalist trains. Come meet me @ManoahDriven.”

Alek Manoah responded quickly

“Hey @Anthony_Recker my job isn’t to please you,” Manoah responded on Twitter. “You are an outsider you don’t know me or my work ethic. What I do in the gym has clearly worked check the numbers, sucks you can’t say the same for yourself.”

He continued “Youre just like everyone else. Love to talk and then wanna say sorry when you get called out. If you wanna see how an All Star, 1st team All-MLB, and CY young finalist trains. Come meet me [at the gym].”

After Recker acknowledged his mistake did what was right and apologized, and wrote a tweet “I made a mistake. Would love to get in touch with him to personally solve this.”
