WATCH: Jordan Poole has hilarious reaction after Warriors star was called for traveling three times in a game

Traveling is rarely called in the NBA today. In fact, many of us who grew up watching NBA basketball before the 2010s find it odd because almost every drive to the rim currently seems like travel.

Tell that to Golden State Warriors star Jordan Poole, who was called for traveling three times in one game alone.

Again, one traveling call in the NBA in 2022 is an exception, but three? Poole should get a lottery ticket as soon as he can because it’s a very rare occasion.

Poole, obviously, did not take traveling call number three of three lightly, as evidenced by the following.

Aside from the travel violations, it’s worth mentioning that Poole is one of the NBA’s greatest young players, and probably one of the most explosive.

Poole, who was selected 28th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft out of Michigan, is averaging 17.9 points and 5.4 assists in 16.68 minutes per game for the Warriors. When he’s in the game…and not traveling…he packs a punch.

After Jordan Poole is whistled three times, Draymond Green and Steve Kerr asked for consistent calls on carry violations. Warriors coach Steve Kerr and All-Star forward Draymond Green both asked referees to be consistent with all players when it comes to ball carrying. Green pointed out that several of the league’s top guards routinely carry the ball.

During the Warriors vs. Heat game, the former DPOY didn’t hesitate to criticize the officials for not doing the same for Jimmy Butler and Kyle Lowry.

Here’s what he had to say about it: “You’d better call it if you’re going to call it. Because every point guard in the NBA bears a lot of weight.  Some of the NBA’s top ball handlers carry frequently. So, if it’s a topic of emphasis, let’s look at it. But I’m not sure I’ve ever seen three in a single game on one player. So, if that’s a topic of emphasis, let’s look at it. I like Kyle Lowry and Jimmy Butler, but they’re not carrying the entire game, so I believe they only have one.”

Meanwhile, Steve Kerr mirrored Green’s sentiments. Kerr admitted that Jordan Poole committed the offense, but so did many other players after Allen Iverson persuaded the officials that it was okay. Kerr also chastised the NBA for sending out letters about the rule change on such short notice.

The NBA has recently attempted to modify the way the game is called. The consistency of the whistles, on the other hand, is an issue that must be addressed. Nonetheless, with Jordan Poole being called for carrying the ball three times in one game, the league appears to have taken this rule modification seriously.
