“Steph Curry is just one-dimensional” – Former Brooklyn Nets player hits out at Warriors icon
Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors to the NBA title, won the first-ever Magic Johnson Western Conference Finals MVP trophy, was named the MVP of the All-Star Game, broke the all-time 3-pointer record, and won his first NBA Finals MVP award in the last year. But some members of the basketball community still don’t fully respect him.
One vocal opponent of Curry is the guard from the EuroLeague, Mike James, who previously played for the Suns, Pelicans, and Kevin Durant’s Nets in the NBA. Over the weekend, James appeared on the “Players Choice” podcast and gave a list of his current top five NBA players. The hosts discovered Curry was gone.
James remarked, “Steph, how he plays and gets everything off, it’s just somewhat one-dimensional at times.” For a point guard, “He’s not the main ball-handler a lot, and that kind of troubles me.”
Mike James went the @PlayersChoice_ podcast and said he wasn’t sure Steph Curry is a top 5 player, calling him ‘one dimensional.’

LeBron James, Luka Doncic, Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Durant were all on James’ list, but he believed that each of them was capable of something that the current Finals MVP was not.
Mike James believes that the other five players can do any function on any team anywhere in the world. “For Steph, I’m just not sure about that. For Steph, it’s a little hazy. He would still kill if you put him in Minnesota, but I doubt it would be the same.
Before the Warriors snatched him up with the seventh choice in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves selected two different point guards at fifth and sixth overall picks.
James isn’t the only person who has questioned Curry. A few people shared their thoughts on the two-time MVP, including Brian Windhorst, Kendrick Perkins, and Bob Ryan. The Warriors guard said he heard everything after winning his fourth championship ring.
James praised Curry’s career overall while criticizing Steph Curry in the current NBA. James added, “As absurd as that seems, he undoubtedly ranks among the best ten players of all time, if not quite there. For whatever reason, James has long been Curry’s critic; he once said Devin Booker was a better player.
