Reports: Yankees re-sign 1B Anthony Rizzo on two-year, $34M deal

Anthony Rizzo will return to the New York Yankees on a new two-year, $34 million contract, multiple outlets reported Tuesday. The deal also reportedly includes a $17 million club option for 2025 with a $6 million buyout, adding up to $40 million guaranteed. Rizzo, 33, joined the Yankees at the 2021 trade deadline in a deal with the Chicago Cubs. He returned on a one-year deal in 2022 and tied a career high of 32 home runs and had 75 RBIs over 130 games, including 115 starts at first base. Rizzo was a three-time All-Star and won four Gold Gloves and one Silver Slugger while with Chicago, where he was part of the 2016 World Series-winning team. In 12 MLB seasons with the San Diego Padres (2011), Cubs (2012-20) and Yankees, Rizzo is a lifetime .265/.366/.481 hitter with 283 home runs, 312 doubles and 889 RBIs in 1,536 games.
