Joe Mixon, Tee Higgins Off The Injury Report
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (concussion) and wide receiver Tee Higgins (hamstring) were removed from Friday's final injury report and will be active in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns. Mixon missed the last two games with a concussion, but he's cleared the league's protocol and will return to his lead-back role this weekend. Backup Samaje Perine will remain involved, but Mixon should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups as an RB1 against a vulnerable Browns run defense. Higgins' fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief after he was limited in practice this week. The 23-year-old has scored in back-to-back weeks and remains a must-start WR1 in fantasy.
Dec 9, 2022 • 8:49 PM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon To Remain The Lead Back
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon has cleared the league's concussion protocol, has put in two full practices this week and is set to end his two-game absence and play in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. He'll return as the team's lead back, with Samaje Perine working as the ultimate situational runner and change-of-pace back. Offensive coordinator Brian Callahan likes the idea of keeping both Mixon and Perine fresh in December and into the playoffs, but Mixon will have clear RB1 upside in fantasy again this weekend against a shaky Browns run defense. Meanwhile, Perine will remain involved, but the drop in volume will make him a touchdown-dependent RB3/flex with Mixon back. Six of Mixon's first nine 100-yard games in his career came in December, with two coming against the Browns.
Dec 9, 2022 • 1:07 AM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon Has Cleared Concussion Protocols
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (concussion) cleared the league's concussion protocols last week, but the Bengals held him out in Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs as a precaution. "It was a tough conversation because I wanted to be out there and contribute with my brothers... he made that decision, and I had no other choice but to live with it," Mixon said about head coach Zac Taylor. Mixon put in a full practice on Wednesday and should be ready to return in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday following a two-game absence. The 26-year-old and the entire Bengals offense was held in check against Cleveland in their first meeting on Halloween night, but Mixon should be able to bounce back and has RB1 potential against a porous Browns run defense.
Dec 8, 2022 • 7:31 PM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon A Full Participant In Practice
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (concussion) was a full practice participant on Wednesday for the first time since suffering a concussion in a Week 11 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mixon has missed the last two games as a result, although he was held out last Sunday as more of a precaution. Barring a setback later this week, the 26-year-old should be fine to take over as the team's primary back in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns, who have really struggled to stop the run this year. In the first meeting against the Browns in Week 8, Mixon had only eight carries for 27 yards but made up for it with seven receptions for 32 yards in a blowout loss. If fully healthy, Mixon will have RB1 upside in his expected return on Sunday.
Dec 7, 2022 • 9:06 PM | RotoBallerEverything Positive With Joe Mixon
Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said that everything is positive with running back Joe Mixon (concussion) on Wednesday. Mixon remains in the league's concussion protocol until he gets through a contact practice, which could come as early as Wednesday. The 26-year-old has missed the team's last two games, although Cincy held him out in Week 13 as more of a precaution. Samaje Perine was a nice plug-and-play RB2 in fantasy with Mixon sidelined, but all signs are pointing toward Mixon returning as the Bengals' lead back this Sunday. If he does, he needs to be in all starting fantasy lineups against the Cleveland Browns, who have been gashed by the run in 2022.
Dec 7, 2022 • 8:16 PM | RotoBallerBengals Expect Joe Mixon To Clear Concussion Protocol
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (concussion) has one final hurdle to clear in the league's concussion protocol, according to head coach Zac Taylor, and the team expects Mixon to clear it early this week. "There just hasn't been contact yet, that's the last hurdle to clear," Taylor said. Mixon suffered a concussion in Week 11 and has missed the last two games. He also missed two games with a concussion in his rookie season in 2017. Mixon has 605 rushing yards and six touchdowns along with 41 catches for 314 yards and two additional TDs in 10 games this year. Samaje Perine has been a plug-and-play RB2 in fantasy the last two weeks with Mixon out, but it looks like Mixon should be back in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns.
Dec 6, 2022 • 2:50 AM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon Not Cleared In Time For Week 13
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (concussion) was not cleared in time for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. As a result, he is officially inactive for the second consecutive week. Samaje Perine will start in Mixon's place. After totaling 185 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns over his last two games, Perine is worth starting as a solid RB2 option in Week 13.
Dec 4, 2022 • 7:56 PM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon Unlikely To Play In Week 13
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (concussion) is highly unlikely to suit up for the Week 13 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. The team hasn't officially ruled him out, but fantasy managers should get a backup plan in place. This game doesn't start until 4:30pm ET, so fantasy managers will have to risk it or go without Mixon for another week. Samaje Perine is expected to get a bulk of the carries in the backfield once again. That being said, Perine is worth starting at least as a flex option in most formats this week.
Dec 4, 2022 • 4:18 PM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon Still Not Cleared To Play On Sunday
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (concussion) is still questionable ahead of the AFC Championship rematch versus the Chiefs. Per ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, the former Sooner remains in concussion protocol and has not been cleared. Considering the Bengals and Chiefs won't square off until 4:25 pm ET, fantasy managers should plan in advance, especially since Mixon's status may not be revealed until after the 1 pm ET lock time. Nevertheless, if Mixon misses another one, Samaje Perine, who has totaled four touchdowns in the last two games, would continue to be the lead option out of the backfield. Perine is a must-start candidate for the potential high-scoring affair.
Dec 4, 2022 • 6:28 AM | RotoBallerJa'Marr Chase, Joe Mixon Questionable For Week 13
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase (hip) and running back Joe Mixon (concussion) are listed as questionable for Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Chase was a full participant in practice on Friday after being limited earlier in the week. The 22-year-old is trending towards ending his four-game absence this Sunday, and although he'll be a bit more risky as a WR1 in his first game back, fantasy managers will want to start him everywhere in a potential high-scoring contest. Check back Sunday morning to make sure he's active. Mixon was still in the concussion protocol as of Friday and missed last week's game, so his status could come down to the wire. If he's active, the 26-year-old should be in starting lineups. If he misses another game, Samaje Perine will be a plug-and-play RB2 in fantasy.
Dec 3, 2022 • 12:02 AM | RotoBallerJa'Marr Chase, Joe Mixon Limited Thursday
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase (hip) and running back Joe Mixon (concussion) both remained limited in practice on Thursday for the second straight day. Chase suffered a hairline fracture of his right hip and a hyperextended right leg in late October and hasn't played since, but he's expected to return this weekend to face the Kansas City Chiefs. There's a chance he'll have his snaps limited in his return, but it's hard to argue for benching him if he's active in Week 13. His return will lower the ceilings of Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd. Mixon, meanwhile, is trending towards a return after sitting out in Week 12 due to a concussion. Samaje Perine will revert to backup duties if Mixon returns and won't have standalone fantasy value. Mixon will be a high-end RB2/low-end RB1 if active.
Dec 1, 2022 • 10:22 PM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon Returns To Practice
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (concussion) will practice on Wednesday. The superstar running back suffered a concussion in Week 11 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unfortunately, he couldn't clear the protocols in time to play last week against the Tennessee Titans, resulting in Samaje Perine getting the start. However, Mixon's return to practice is an excellent sign that he should be ready to play Sunday for the showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs. The superstar is the RB8 for the year, averaging 16 half-point PPR fantasy points per game this season. Assuming he clears the protocols and can play, Mixon is a plug-and-play RB1 this week against Kansas City.
Nov 30, 2022 • 7:15 PM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon Trending In The Right Direction For Week 13
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (concussion), who missed the Week 12 win over the Tennessee Titans due to a concussion, "is trending in the direction" of being able to play in Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a source. Mixon remains in the league's concussion protocol on Monday, but he's making good progress and is expected to be cleared later this week. Fantasy managers will want to pay close attention to his practice status, but the 26-year-old should be returned to starting lineups in all leagues if he's active on Sunday against KC. Samaje Perine has been an excellent plug-and-play fill-in, carrying the ball 28 times for 88 yards and a touchdown while catching eight passes for 87 yards and three more TDs in the last two games.
Nov 28, 2022 • 11:11 PM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon Ruled Out For Week 12
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (concussion) has been officially ruled out for Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday due to his concussion that he suffered in last week's win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mixon was unable to clear the league's protocol and didn't practice all week, paving the way for Samaje Perine to lead Cincy's backfield this weekend against the Titans. Perine should've been a popular waiver-wire pickup this week because of Mixon's injury, especially after he scored three receiving touchdowns and saw 15 touches in Week 11. Rookie Chris Evans and Trayveon Williams will look to pick up the slack behind Perine this Sunday. With added touches and playing time, Perine will be in play as an RB2 in Week 12 with Mixon out.
Nov 25, 2022 • 5:53 PM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon Still In The Concussion Protocol
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (concussion) remains in the protocol after suffering a concussion last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The superstar running back was coming off a massive performance in the previous game. He had 211 scrimmage yards, five total touchdowns, and 53.1 half-point PPR fantasy points against the Carolina Panthers. While the Bengals don't play until Sunday, fantasy players should add Samaje Perine off the waiver wire. If Mixon can't play this week, Perine will get the start. Last week, the former Oklahoma running back had three touchdowns and 82 scrimmage yards against the Steelers, scoring 28.2 half-point PPR fantasy points.
Nov 23, 2022 • 7:24 PM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon Downgraded To Out Sunday
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon has been diagnosed with a concussion and has been ruled out for the remainder of Week 11 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He totaled 20 rushing yards and 42 receiving yards before exiting the contest. The already-shorthanded Bengals will have to proceed with Samaje Perine and Trayveon Williams operating out of the backfield this week, and possibly next Sunday against the Titans, too.
Nov 20, 2022 • 11:43 PM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon Questionable To Return Sunday
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (head) is questionable to return against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11. He totaled 20 rushing yards and 42 receiving yards before exiting the contest. If Mixon is unable to return, the already-shorthanded Bengals would proceed with Samaje Perine and Trayveon Williams operating out of the backfield.
Nov 20, 2022 • 11:26 PM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon Gets In Full Practice Tuesday
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (ankle) got in a full practice on Tuesday, according to the team's official injury report. Mixon left his team's Week 3 game against the New York Jets early with the injury but it appears that he will be available for the Bengals' Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night. Just in case, fantasy gamers rostering Mixon might want to check whether Samaje Perine is available on waivers as a contingency plan. Mixon will be a mid-range RB1 if he suits up on Thursday night.
Sep 28, 2022 • 1:06 AM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon Good To Go For Week 4
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (ankle) will be good to go for Thursday night's game against the Miami Dolphins in Week 3 after his ankle was nicked up in the Week 3 win over the New York Jets, according to head coach Zac Taylor. Mixon has been a huge disappointment for fantasy managers through three weeks, carrying the ball 58 times for 163 yards (career-worst 2.8 yards per carry) and no touchdowns while catching 13 passes for 103 yards. It hasn't been the start that fantasy managers envisioned, but Mixon will remain the team's lead back heading into the matchup against the 3-0 Dolphins on Thursday. Miami's defense has allowed 116 yards per game on the ground so far, so perhaps Mixon will finally make some noise this week.
Sep 26, 2022 • 8:29 PM | RotoBallerJoe Mixon Injures Ankle On Sunday
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (ankle) finished with only 24 yards off 12 carries during the win over the New York Jets. He also caught three of his seven targets for 14 yards. Unfortunately, Mixon suffered an ankle injury, opening the door for Samaje Perine to finish with 47 yards off nine touches. Head coach Zac Taylor admitted after the game that Mixon was "a little sore," which is concerning considering the Bengals host the Dolphins on Thursday night. Fantasy managers should tread carefully heading into Week 4, especially since the former Sooner could be limited. There's also a chance he may not play, which will make Perine a popular waiver wire target.
