Why Did Giants Hold A Meeting With QB Russell Wilson?
Wilson was seen at the Newark airport earlier on Friday morning, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. The Giants and Wilson held what was described as “an exploratory meeting,” according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, who broke the story first.
Quarterback Daniel Jones, who signed a four-year deal with New York last year, will have a guaranteed salary of $36 million in 2024. However, in the six games that Jones was able to play in 2023, his performance was below average.

The Steelers are now a serious contender to sign Wilson. Although Wilson is speaking with at least one other team, both sides have a mutual interest, according to a story published on Thursday by Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Based on Schefter’s claim, it may be reasonable to presume that the other team is the Giants. A number of teams have been identified as possible destinations for Wilson’s landing.
Even with Daniel Jones beginning the second season of a four-year, $160 million contract that was signed in March 2023, the Giants still have $41 million in cap room.
I hope the Broncos & Sean Payton fail for the next 20 years. Bunch of scumbags in that front office. Sean Payton is a piece of shit. Good for Russell Wilson for speaking out about it. #BroncosCountry #NFL

In 15 games during the previous season, he completed 66.4 percent of his passes for 3,070 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. Denver still has to pay him in 2024, so he could accept the veteran minimum.
Schefter adds that, in addition to the Giants and Steelers, the Raiders could be interested in meeting with Wilson.
Wilson could theoretically take a contract for the league minimum of $1.2 million since the Broncos still owe him $39 million guaranteed for this season.

After going 5-12 in his first season under Nathaniel Hackett and receiving a contract ultimatum this past season from new coach Sean Payton, Wilson had a disappointing two seasons in Denver.
How much do the Broncos owe Russell Wilson?
Due to offset wording in his contract, he owes the Broncos $39 million guaranteed in 2024, less the amount of a contract he gets with another club. That may be as little as the league minimum of $1.2 million.
