The Utah Jazz selected Aldama with the 30th overall choice in the 2021 NBA Draft. The Memphis Grizzlies later received his rights in a deal. Aldama joined the 2022 NBA Summer League squad of the Grizzlies. Aldama was selected for the All-NBA Summer League Second Team on July 18, 2022.

He has a basketball background family as Santiago Aldama, Aldama’s father, played basketball professionally in Portugal and Spain before competing for Spain in the 1992 Summer Olympics. In Spain, Italy, and Portugal, his uncle Santi Toledo also participated in professional basketball.
