John was born on 6 September 1990 in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States to parents Frances Pulley and John Carroll Wall Sr. His father, who had previously served time in prison for second-degree murder, was found guilty of armed robbery when he was a year old. After being released from prison on August 24, 1999, Wall Sr. passed away at the age of 52 from liver cancer.

He is not the only child in the family as he has a sister named Cierra, a half Sister named Tonya, and an older half-brother Carroll Wall Jr. His mother worked hard and did multiple jobs when his father was in prison and after his death. His older brother was also jailed and released in 2018. His mother died back in 2019 due to breast cancer.
