In the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals selected him after his time playing college football at Auburn. Uzomah spent his four seasons at Auburn mostly as a blocking tight end; he only caught 29 passes, but seven of them went for touchdowns. Uzomah went to the Medal of Honor Bowl in 2015.

He competed in Auburn’s pro day on March 3, 2015. All of the positional and combine drills were completed by Uzomah in front of scouts and representatives from all 32 NFL teams. The Cincinnati Bengals chose Uzomah in the fifth round (157th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft. Uzomah and the New York Jets agreed to a three-year contract on March 17, 2022.

When he joined the Jets, rumors of him dating the popular host Kay Adams started. He responded to this rumor with a tweet in which he denied the fact that he joined the Jets for Adams and then tweeted again by saying “My Girl” is not happy with the accusation.
