American professional basketball player Markelle Fultz plays for the NBA’s Orlando Magic. Before being taken by the Philadelphia 76ers as the first overall choice in the 2017 NBA Draft, he played collegiate basketball for the Washington Huskies. Fultz played point guard and shooting guard for the Huskies during his lone season with them (2016–17). He was selected as a first-team All-Pac-12 player and a third-team All-American despite Washington’s generally dismal season.

Prior to being traded to the Magic in 2019, he started his NBA career with the Philadelphia 76ers. He was chosen for the Team USA Under-18 team for the FIBA Americas during the summer. The team advanced to the gold medal game with Fultz as its leading scorer; in a commanding performance, Fultz scored 23 points and won the tournament’s MVP award for his effort.

By the end of his senior year, Fultz had received a five-star rating from Scout.com, Rivals.com, and ESPN, and was regarded as the top point guard in the 2016 class and third overall. Fultz and Chase Young played basketball together at DeMatha, and Young later won the title of 2020 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year after being selected by the Washington Football Team as the second overall pick in the NFL Draft.
