Davis left college after one season for the NBA and was chosen that summer to represent the United States in the 2012 Summer Olympics. He was selected for the NBA All-Rookie First Team following his rookie season. He made his first All-Star appearance the following year and led the NBA in blocked shots per game. Since then, he has broken the NBA record for the youngest player with at least 59 points in a game.

He established an All-Star Game scoring record with 52 points, earning him the NBA All-Star Game MVP Award in 2017. In 2019, Davis was traded to the Lakers. He became the first basketball player in history to win an NCAA championship, NBA championship, Olympic Gold Medal, and FIBA World Cup after winning gold medals with the United States national team in the 2012 and 2014 World Cups.
