Dallas Mavericks Set to Play Real Madrid in the Pre-Season as Luka Doncic Eyes Reunion With Former Team

At 13, Doncic signed a five-year deal with Real Madrid in September 2012 and made an early impact on the under-16 squad. Doncic completed his real-world debut for Real Madrid against Unicaja on April 30, 2015, in the Liga ACB. After Sergio Llull, the team’s standout player tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the 2017 EuroBasket, Luka Doncic began to play a more prominent role for Real Madrid heading into the 2017–18 campaign.

Before becoming a household name in the NBA, Luka Doncic established himself in Europe. Now, he will get the opportunity to compete against his old team in preseason. The NBA is still working to broaden its worldwide influence. According to reports, the Dallas Mavericks will participate in those initiatives during the 2023 preseason thanks to one of the biggest international superstars.

Luka Doncic to play Real Madrid

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Dallas Mavericks will play Real Madrid in the 2019 NBA preseason. In addition, the squad will travel to the United Arab Emirates for a match there. Both contests are anticipated to be a part of an October two-game tour.

“I don’t know if we can play a pre-season game in Slovenia, but we’re working very hard to play one against Real Madrid,” Cuban said.

The Milwaukee Bucks of Giannis Antetokounmpo played two games in Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena in October of last year. Before going to the Philippines to compete in the FIBA World Cup in August, the US national team will undergo a training camp there, according to Stein. This season, the Mavs only participated in three preseason games because a planned exhibition game with an Australian club was postponed.

They played the Oklahoma City Thunder at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the lone preseason game they played on a neutral court this year. The location of the game is not by accident. Real Madrid, the former team of Luka Doncic, is one of the most renowned members of the EuroLeague, and the United Arab Emirates is planning a sizable offer for this elite league.
