“We Had Multiple Chances to Get in the End Zone”- Patrick Mahomes Shares His Thoughts After a Shock Loss Against the Colts
The all-conquering Kansas City Chiefs led by Patrick Mahomes headed into their game week three clash against the Indianapolis Colts riding a high. The team had won two straight games and put on flawless performances. They were expected to sweep aside the Indianapolis Colts that were yet to register a win in their 2022 NFL season. In their first game, the Colts drew against the Texans and in the second game they were demolished by the Jaguars.

Therefore, there was reason to believe that Patrick Mahomes and his men would have no trouble in defeating a Colts side led by new addition, Matt Ryan. However, that was not the case, in a game that saw a huge number of errors from both sides, it was the Colts that were able to maximize their chances and secure their first win of the season.

After the loss Mahomes shared his thoughts on the loss saying, “We’ve got to make it so those little mistakes don’t cause the loss. We had multiple chances to get in the end zone, and if we get (in) the end zone one time, don’t stall out in the red zone, get seven (instead of the missed field goal in the fourth quarter), the game’s over.”
What went wrong for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs against the Colts?
This season, Mahomes is throwing to a relatively new set of wide receivers in the form of JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

The chemistry between the quarterback and his offense is just not at the same level as it used to be and the frustration of the evening got to Mahomes, who appeared to get into a very animated argument with the offensive coach for the Chiefs, Eric Bieniemy.

Matt Ryan has been under increased scrutiny this year and he has not been performing at his very best. However, the Colts knew that in Ryan they had a player who could make the difference when it mattered the most and that is just what he did against the Chiefs. He ended the game finishing 27 of 37 for 222 yards and two touchdowns.
