“We Got Enough Out of the First Two”- Dana White Says He Has No Regrets About Not Being Able to Make a Third Fight Between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz

In the history of the UFC, there have been a few rivalries that have transcended the sport and reached a level where more than one such fight had to be made. Nate Diaz vs Conor McGregor is one such example. A fight that came about due to unfortunate circumstances slowly morphed into one of the biggest and most successful rivalries the UFC had ever seen.

Both Diaz and Conor McGregor are at one win apiece and it makes absolute sense for the UFC to make the third fight from both a competition and a business point of view. However, after the recent announcement that Diaz would be facing Chimaev in his final fight, the possibility of Diaz vs McGregor 3 taking place inside a UFC octagon is all but over.

In a recent interview, Dana White was asked if had any regrets about not making the third fight between Diaz and McGregor. He said, “Conor’s not ready yet. You know, Conor’s leg isn’t healed yet. You know, Nate could obviously sit around and wait for that.”

White continued, “But he doesn’t want it. I don’t know what he’s got planned or what’s he thinking. But right here, right now, he’s ready to fight. He wants to go. And we are going. It’s not like I am like, oh god I never got the chance to make number three, you know. The first two were awesome… If it happens, it happens. We got enough out of the first two.”

Conor McGregor to take on Tony Ferguson in his return to the UFC?

The common consensus was that the UFC was putting Diaz on the sidelines so that they could get a third fight done with him and ‘The Notorious. Now, since that is not the case, ‘The Notorious’ will most likely return to a fight at 155-pounds in the UFC.

Conor McGregor

The front runners for a fight against ‘Mystic Mac’ are Tony Ferguson and Michael Chandler. If McGregor wants an easier path to secure a win, Ferguson will be his choice of opponent. ‘Iron’ on the other hand will be a more exciting fight, but it will be tougher for McGregor to secure a win against ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler.
