WATCH: Brock Purdy’s father gets emotional after 49ers QB throws TD in stunning win vs Buccaneers
Brock Purdy may have got the Mr Irrelevant tag by force but he is proving to be one of the most valuable assets for the San Francisco 49ers this season. The Niners’ third-choice QB has already helped the team to two wins in the last week amid a QB injury crisis for Kyle Shanahan.
How did Brock Purdy fare on his first start in the NFL?
Purdy and the Niners went into their Week 14 game against Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers as underdogs but came out as 35-7 winners. And it was Purdy who stole the show once again. The 22-year-old threw 185 yards and set up two touchdowns to propel the Niners one step closer to the playoffs.

It was a massive occasion for Purdy as well and his parents were in the crowd to watch him put on a sensational performance. It was an emotional moment for them and Brock’s father couldn’t hold back his tears while watching his son in action. Purdy’s dad was caught by cameras as he was wiping away tears in the stands after his son put the 49ers up 21-0.
He just got better and better as the game progresses and he also got a rushing touchdown as well to get his team a win. With Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo out of action for the season, Brock Purdy is certainly putting himself into the running to start for the Niners in the postseason.

The win for the Niners kept them at the top of the NFC West as Kyle Shanahan’s side now have nine wins from their 13 games played this season. Meanwhile, the Bucs fell to their seventh defeat of the campaign. While Brady and Tampa Bay are still in a solid position to make the postseason, they will need to regroup from this tough loss.
