“Unbelievable A-Z”: Frank Reich all Praises for Matt Ryan – Indianapolis Colts’ Fifth QB in 5 Years

In terms of first impressions, Matt Ryan’s offseason program with the Colts appears to have gone off without a hitch. In March, the veteran quarterback was dealt with the Indianapolis Colts. Since then, Ryan has easily won over his coaches, teammates, and Colts owner Jim Irsay, according to all sources.

The Colts must prove that their sixth quarterback in five years is worth it after Wentz failed to cooperate with head coach Frank Reich, who first helped him unleash his potential. With all of that teamwork in mind, if they’re already connecting this early in the offseason, it’s a positive indication.

Head coach Frank Reich heaped praise on his new quarterback as the team’s offseason program drew to an end this week.

“Matt was unbelievable, did a great job, great command — really, A-Z. He did everything right — just great leadership, great play,” Reich said in his press conference.

“I mean, the whole way he took command, great collaborating as an offensive staff with him to kind of work in and nuance some of the things we do to kind of suit him and his style. Kind of get to learn a few things about him, pick his brain about some of the things he did and what are the favorite things he did in Atlanta. Let’s see if we can incorporate a few of those things and kind of fit with us. So we got a lot of that done over the last number of weeks.”

Adding a quarterback of Ryan’s caliber can completely transform an attack. To put himself in the greatest position to succeed, he’ll most likely want to incorporate plays and schemes that he’s familiar with.

The Colts, on the other hand, will stick to their game plan and will most likely execute plays that suit their personnel. Last season, Ryan, who turned 37 in May, threw for 3,968 yards and 20 touchdowns while throwing 12 interceptions for Atlanta.
