UFC Heavyweight Tom Aspinall Provides Much-Needed Injury Update After Shocking UFC London Knee Injury

The main event for UFC London ended in a rather anti-climatic fashion, as Tom Aspinall was defeated via TKO due to injury. Neither Curtis Blaydes nor the fans in the O2 Arena were satisfied with the outcome of the contest and the MMA world has been calling for a rematch.

Tom Aspinall set the O2 Arena on fire the last time he headlined against Alexander Volkov. However, his outing this time was hampered by a major injury. Fans have been pining for an update on the same, and the British fighter has finally taken to social media and answered the queries of fans regarding his injury.

Tom Aspinall shares a much-needed injury update

Aspinall let fans know that he was waiting for the swelling to subside before getting a thorough MRI scan done for his knee injury. He informed fans that in order to get an accurate read of his injury, he would need to ensure that the swelling had completely subsided.

He also went on to say that he was ‘in the dumps’ by the way UFC London played out and it’s hard to argue with said assessment.

“Just a quick update on the knee situation, because plenty of people are asking about the diagnosis and what happened to the knee,” he said. “Now anybody who’s got knee problems knows that in order to have an MRI scan, an accurate MRI scan, you need to let the swelling go down. So I spoke to the surgeon, we have a rough idea of what it is, but we are currently waiting for the swelling to go down, and I will be having the MRI scan this weekend and having surgery early next week in London.”

Aspinall is the number 6 ranked heavyweight and by virtue of his unfortunate defeat at the hands of Curtis Blaydes, he won’t be able to take his number 4 spot.
