“One Thing About Izzy That Is Absolutely Unique….”- John McCarthy Reveals a Skill That Separates Israel Adesanya From the Rest of the Division

Just four years on from his UFC debut, Israel Adesanya is slowly building an impressive resume with multiple championship defenses under his name. ‘The Last Style Bender’ defended his belt for the fifth time the past weekend as he put on a clinical display against Jared Cannonier. Following the win, he wasted no time in calling out his arch-rival Alex Pereira for a fight.

He said, “We know who’s next, that’s ‘Poatan’. Trust me, the first time I told you, it was an error on my part spamming that right hand, but that was in kickboxing. It’s easy to knock out that homeboy or what’s that hillbilly’s name [Sean Strickland], because he was parrying the jabs. But like I said in the press conference, next time I put you on skates, you’re gonna get frozen like Elsa. I’ll leave it at that.”

Pereira has two wins over Adesanya during their kickboxing days. The first win was a decision win, the second was a brutal left hook knockout that left Adesanya motionless on the floor. Therefore the backstory here is extremely interesting.

John McCarthy shares what makes Israel Adesanya unique

‘The Last Style Bender’ is known for being one of the most clinical strikers the sport has ever seen. However, in a recent episode of his podcast, veteran referee John McCarthy pointed out yet another unique skill that separated Adesanya from his competitors.

He said, “Look, there’s one thing about Izzy that is absolutely unique. His balance and the way that he can actually bend his body in a way to avoid a shot, but then actually throw and throw with a little bit of snap and balance still. He’s amazing as far as what he can do and what he can throw off-balance, but it still has power on it and it looks like it’s balanced. In the stand-up, he;s dangerous everywhere.”
