Country music artist and ardent Dolphins supporter Darius Rucker was drawn to that performance and the two hinted at a possible collaboration on social media in December.
Well, that did really happen in the end. As Rucker was singing his hit song “Wagon Wheel” in front of a Las Vegas crowd that featured numerous NFL players, including quarterback Daniel Jones of the New York Giants, Tagovailoa joined Rucker on stage.

The Dolphins quarterback Tagovailoa was seen on stage with country music star and renowned Hootie & the Blowfish lead vocalist Randy Rucker, wearing sunglasses, in a video from the early hours of Saturday morning that was posted on X.
The video then paned to the Giants quarterback, who was grinning and yelling the phrases.
The evening began with the Ultimate Madden Bowl championship game, in which Henry Leverette defeated Wesley Gittens, 35-24, to become the first Madden Championship Series player to surpass $1 million in career earnings. Tagovailoa hosted the after-party, which included a performance by Hit-Boy, according to Reuters.

Nearly as remarkable as his quarterbacking prowess, Tagovailoa’s guitar prowess brought him to share the stage with a country music icon. In addition to enjoying considerable success as a solo artist over the last ten or so years, Rucker rose to prominence in the 1990s as the main vocalist of Hootie and the Blowfish.
After making his career-long debut and topping the league in passing yards (4,624), Tagovailoa enters the game. The quarterback for the Dolphins is having the time of his life in Las Vegas while he waits for a new deal.
Not exactly what #FinsUp fans had in mind when they heard Tua would be in Las Vegas Super Bowl week this year.

Nine days prior to his Vegas performance, Rucker was taken into custody in Tennessee on misdemeanor counts of simple possession and casual exchange of a controlled drug, in addition to one count of breaking the law pertaining to car registration.
According to reports, the event happened in February 2023 during a traffic check.
A year later, Rucker brought himself up and was freed on a $10,500 bail.
