‘They’re Just Being Haters’- Michael Chandler Takes Notice of ‘Total Package’ Paddy Pimblett After Incredible UFC London Performance

Speaking to the media backstage at UFC London, Michael Chandler talked about one of the most promising stars in the UFC today.

Paddy Pimblett once again stole the show in his hometown as he picked up the stoppage win over Jordan Levitt in a highly anticipated main card bout. Paddy ‘The Baddy’ moved to 3-0 in the UFC and he’s likely to be fast-tracked up the UFC rankings in his next fight.

Several fans and fighters have taken notice of Paddy Pimblett’s rise in the UFC and Michael Chandler was one of them. ‘Iron’ Mike revealed that he’s been in contact with Pimblett and feels the Scouser will soon be ‘nipping at his heels’ for a fight.

 

Chandler is confident that he’ll wear the lightweight strap within 12 months and then have a target on his back.

“He’s great, man,” Chandler told reporters backstage at The O2 this past weekend. “Paddy and I have been in contact a little bit. He’s a guy who’s in that perfect – kind of that perfect position where I’m the guy. I’m gonna be the champion here in the next 12 months. He’s going to be nipping at my heels, coming into the top 15, coming into the top 10. But I don’t have a scarcity mindset when it comes to other guys in my division, especially when I see guys who are doing it the right way in my opinion.” [h/t bjepnn.com]

“He’s a marketable guy, he’s a happy guy, he’s a fun guy, he’s fun to watch, he’s fun on the microphone, he’s the total package,” Chandler said. “People can hate on him all they want, but really they’re just being haters. Paddy Pimblett is the total package, but can he put it together inside the octagon within the bells and continue to keep winning? We’ll see.”

Additionally, Michael Chandler sees Paddy Pimblett as the total package and it’s hard to argue with his assessment. Pimblett has shown that he can get an arena to march to his tune and there’s likely to be a huge fight coming in the future.
