The second game of a three-game series pitted the Cincinnati Reds against Altuve’s Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park.
De La Cruz singled in the first inning, went 2-for-5 for the game, and advanced to second. The Reds released this awesome shot of him standing on second base next to Altuve.

A few photographers were able to capture some images of the rookie Cincinnati Reds pitcher Elly De La Cruz and the 5-foot-6 Altuve on Saturday.

The absurd thing is that on the field, the size disparity doesn’t matter. Altuve hit a home run and was 4-for-4 overall. The 33-year-old is a former MVP of the AL and an 8-time All-Star.
Photos of “little guy, standing next to tall guy” are highly popular. There isn’t much of a payout in pictures like these; I recall thinking, “Man, look how much taller he is,” when I saw one of Zdeno Chara and Nathan Gerbe together back in the day.
Lol yeah, height and weight. News flash: there are short men in sports that are still dominant. And there isn’t a female on planet earth who could hit a baseball as far as Jose Altuve… sorry pic.twitter.com/ytejfgENtp

It doesn’t matter if you’re short or tall, slender or powerful. De La Cruz hopes to build the same kind of career as Altuve had so far, despite all the fanfare surrounding his entry into the league.
