Stephen Curry’s Mom Reacts To Son-In-Law Damion Lee & Jamychal Geen On Court

Family ties are arguably the strongest bonds there are. Although there are many different types of families, nothing seems to measure up to the love of one’s own blood. Sonya Curry, Curry’s mother, was present at the game to witness her son and son-in-law lace up.

It was a little bit of a family affair when the Golden State Warriors defeated the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. Stephen Curry and his brother-in-law Damion Lee squared off in the contest. Curry and Lee played together for the Warriors for three seasons between 2019 and 22.

Yet on Monday night, when the Golden State Warriors defeated the Phoenix Suns with ease, 123-112, Steph Curry realised that this was unquestionably the case after witnessing his mother, Sonya, passionately defend Damion Lee, the husband of her daughter Sydel, during a late-game incident.

Steph wishes his mother to support his team, but he doesn’t blame her in the least for wanting to jump to Damion Lee’s defence. Even Draymond Green of the Warriors exchanged jabs with his mother throughout the exchange.

With little over a minute left in the fourth quarter and the Warriors leading by 15 points, things were heated between the two teams. Lee pushed Warriors player Moses Moody, sending him to fall to the ground, then turning around and pushing Jamychal Geen of Gold State.

Green wasn’t the only person who found Lee’s shove offensive.

Sonya Curry, who was seated behind the Warriors’ bench, sprang up and appeared ready to go to the ground and confront Green. She was shouting and gesticulating furiously, and she even scaled a railing to holler at Draymond Green, who had been energising her the entire time.

In front of 15,000 people, this mature woman is behaving like a baby who missed out on a popsicle after dinner, but it doesn’t matter because she’s a Curry, apparently.

The majority of NBA fans will refer to this as “a mother-in-law being enthusiastic,” but in truth, it’s just an awkward situation.

Steph Curry laughed the whole thing off during his postgame press conference when asked about what exactly happened.

“It was like old school AAU back in the day where the parents get involved,” Curry said.” JaMychal and D Lee had their moment, my mom was sitting in the stands. I gave her the tickets tonight so she had to be with the Warriors, but she was going to switch sides to protect her son-in-law. So that’s what it was about, it was just some good fun back and forth. Family over everything at times.”

The Curry family simply couldn’t lose the night, in the end. You just can’t lose if you play both sides, as one wise guy once stated. Yet Steph was the one who got the last laugh.
