“Spirit Will Live Forever”: Jaylen Brown Leads NBA Stars as Tributes Pour In For Soccer Legend Pele After Sad News of His Passing

Pele, probably the greatest player in football history, passed away at the age of 82. Over the course of a 21-year career, he is credited with scoring a world-record 1,281 goals in 1,363 games, including 77 goals in 92 international games. Pele was selected as Fifa’s Player of the Century in 2000. Pele is the only player to have won the World Cup three times, taking home the trophy in 1958, 1962, and 1970.

In recent years, he has experienced renal and prostate issues. In September 2021, the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo performed surgery to remove a colon tumor that had been found during normal examinations. In the latter days of November 2022, he was readmitted to the hospital.

Jaylen Brown reacts to shocking news of Pele’s death

Jaylen Brown tweeted: “Rest In Peace to a legend 🕊today we celebrate his legacy ! Pelé’s spirit will live forever.”

One of soccer’s all-time greats, Pelé spent nearly two decades thrilling supporters and stunning rivals as the sport’s leading scorer for Brazilian club Santos and the Brazil national team. Players and spectators were mesmerized by his elegance, agility, and captivating maneuvers.

Pele organized a quick, flowing style that transformed the game, personifying his nation’s grace on the field with a samba-like flare. In a career that started on the streets of Sao Paulo state, where he would kick a sock filled with newspapers or rags, he led Brazil to the pinnacles of soccer and developed into a global ambassador for his sport.
