Some Projected Fantasy Football Breakouts for the 2022 NFL Season
Usually, when making fantasy football predictions, projected stats are given as reasonable expectations, as it’s hard to make out if anyone will have breakout years. Those players usually hit their upside rather than have projections for a career year from the beginning. However, there are some projected fantasy football breakouts for the 2022 NFL season as some of these players are expected to have career years in the next season.
Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia Eagles, QB)
With 2022 draft pick A.J. Brown headed to Philadelphia, Hurts has a true wide receiver to pass the ball to. He is relatively new to the league but has proven himself to step up in the wake of previous Eagles QBs Carson Wentz and Nick Foles. The Eagles are expected to have a greater passing volume as well, helping to bolster Hurts’ stats.
Dallas Goedert (Philadelphia Eagles, TE)
As mentioned previously, with the expected greater passing volume from the Eagles, Goedert is sure to have his stats increased too. He only needs an 18% target share volume in order to be one of the best tight ends projected in fantasy football for the next season.
Cam Akers (Los Angeles Rams, RB)
While Akers wasn’t very efficient in the playoffs last season, he is definitely the most talented RB on his team. Whenever he’s healthy, he sees his fair share of touches, where in seven games he’s had over 16 touches, indicating how much he’s participating in their winning efforts. Considering the Rams’ overall offense, it’s good to pick him up in Round 3 or 4.
Rashod Bateman (Baltimore Ravens, WR)
Bateman has potential to take over the Ravens as the No.1 wide receiver in place of Marquise Brown. Mark Andrews is the only legitimate competition Bateman has for targets, so having a 20% target share is expected at the least, with a possible 25% as well.
Brandin Cooks (Houston Texans, WR)
Cooks set a career-high with 134 targets last year on a team that ran the third-fewest plays per game. That makes a case for Cooks having more volume next season. He set a career-high for catches last year and was only 167 yards shy of his career-best, making for a good career year projection. While he averaged a low 7.7 yards per target as well, it’s mainly because he played with Tyrod Taylor and a rookie quarterback.
Who's the @NFLFantasy player everyone is sleeping on this season?
