Simone Biles and Gabby Douglas reunite after eight years for a long-awaited competition

Gymnastics royalty is expected to reunite at the Paris Olympics, particularly for Team USA. Three gold medallists from the Olympics in the all-around competition are fighting for a position on the team to represent “the Stars and Stripes” in Paris this year. The 2012 Olympic all-around champion Gabby Douglas, the 2016 Olympic all-around winner Simone Biles, and the 2020 Olympic all-around champion Sunisa Lee are none other than them.

With Suni and Gabby having already made their season debuts, all eyes are on Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast of all time, to return. Simone Biles is scheduled to return for her fourth Olympic cycle in less than a month. In addition to the growing anticipation, there is also a growing sense of unease as she gets ready to meet Gabby Douglas, her ill-fated colleague of eight years, in person.

Simone Biles and Gabby Douglass will square off against one another.

The list of senior and junior women competing in the 2024 Core Hydration Classic was made public by USA Gymnastics on X. Simone Biles and Gabby Douglas are enrolled to compete in an intriguing return of the Titans match, alongside other Olympians including Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and others. The two veterans have not competed in eight years; their last meeting took place in “The Final Five” during the 2016 Tokyo Olympics.

Even more exciting is the fact that three Olympic all-around gold medalists are anticipated to face off in a gymnastics tournament for the first time ever. Suni Lee, Simone Biles, and Gabby Douglas will compete in Hartford, Connecticut, on May 17–18.
